UK Government ramps up offering to support Czech investors

Czech companies already benefit from entering the UK market and acknowledge the difference between doing a business in both countries.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) has widened its remit to include support for Czech institutional and private investors in the UK. Traditionally focusing on supporting British companies entering the Czech market, this new initiative enables UKTI to showcase the best the UK has to offer in terms of investment opportunities as well.

In order to benefit from existing market expertise in the Czech investor market, UKTI has brought AT Kearney on board as investment delivery partners. Starting on May 1st, AT Kearney will provide advisors working wholly on behalf of UK government for the period of the contract. This reflects UKTI’s appetite to find investors who are ready to explore opportunities across a range of sectors from the latest in Innovation and Green Technology to setting up their new Headquarters in the UK.

Czech companies already benefit from entering the UK market and acknowledge the difference between doing a business in both countries. Zdenek Marsal, executive head of the Czech company Greendata that provides data centre and server hosting services for example sees the higher knowledge of the UK customers regarding the carbon-neutral approach which they try to follow. “Customers in the UK also show much greater appreciation for resources invested in ‘green’ solutions and spend more time weighing the costs and benefits of the available solutions,” Marsal explains.

Businesses from both the UK and the Czech Republic are keen to explore opportunities in each other’s markets. The new team of Investment Advisors builds on the strength of the ties between the two countries.

Paul Taylor, UKTI Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe, said: “I warmly welcome this new initiative which will allow us to provide a better service for existing and prospective Czech investors in the UK. The UK is the number one destination for foreign direct investment in Europe, and has many opportunities to offer to Czech investors. My team look forward to working with AT Kearney to market new opportunities to our Czech clients.”

Igor Hulak, director at A.T. Kearney says: “We have just started the cooperation with UKTI and we have already noticed a considerable interest of the Czech companies in the UK market. We look forward to facilitating their decisions on the international expansion. The UK market offers great opportunities for new entrants and we will happily present them in the way tailored to specific needs of the interested companies.”
